Helen Biles Studio is an artist studio in the beautiful setting of the Purbeck heathland and showing an interesting mix of original oil paintings and screen prints. Helen’s themes and subjects are drawn from the natural environment, with both abstract and still-life work on show.
Helen runs popular creative workshops for children, young adults and adults from the studio. The children’s workshops run through the holidays in painting & screen printing, graffiti & spray painting, creative journaling, wire 3d sculpture, rust printing and natural dying; with an emphasis on experimentation and fun, encouraging children to try new techniques.
Helen also shares her experience and knowledge through adult workshops in the indigo and natural dyeing processes combined with rust and eco printing. Helen draws on experience gained from her time living in Laos, where she learned from the skills of the master dyers at the Houey Hong Vocational Training Centre.
As part of Helen's professional creative career, she held roles including Creative Director at HarperCollins Publishing in Sydney and Illustration Agent at the Bright Agency, in London. In addition to hands-on creative workshops, she now offers graphic design skills, coaching and consultation to young adults who wish to follow a creative career in graphic design, publishing, advertising, branding, illustration and fine art.
Helen holds a Master’s degree in Art from the UNSW College of Fine Art (COFA), Sydney, Australia, majoring in painting. Helen regularly exhibits and has been involved in two international artist residency programs.
